What is a Fisher House?

Fisher Houses are comfort homes where Veterans’ families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital and the family lives 50 miles or more from the health care location. More than a convenient and beautiful place to stay, the guests of Fisher House share common experiences, form friendships and become a unique kind of family, a Fisher House family.

100 of these homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world. They are built by the national Fisher House Foundation, then given to the respective governmental agency to manage and maintain. The Fisher House Foundation was established in 1993.
