Statement from Fisher House Foundation Chairman and CEO Kenneth Fisher

"We are thrilled and honored to be chosen as a recipient of President Obama's Nobel Prize award money. For 20 years, Fisher House has supported our troops and veterans by providing housing for their loved ones during their care and rehabilitation at military installations and VA medical centers around the world. It is a responsibility we take very seriously and have accepted as our duty and obligation to our servicemen and women."

Our Stories

September 2010

The St. Louis Fisher House had a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the house to the VA Medical Center - St. Louis.

Happy 5th Anniversary Fisher House St. Louis!... and by the way it's also the Fisher House Foundations 25th Anniversary!

To celebrate five years of service we wanted to share a few comments from our guests:

Kevin Drysdale wrote on Aug 26, 2015: Me and my brother can’t believe how great of a place the Fisher House is. We had the best stay possible. Food was great and staff Awesome especially Vanniecia God Bless her and the staff.

Mary Wilson wrote on Sep 2, 2015: We were treated great during our stay here. All the other guests were nice and everyone was treated as family.

Patricia Childers wrote on August 4, 2015: I was overwhelmed by this wonderful facility! I can’t imagine anything else needed thank you so very much.

Cyndi Dixson wrote on August 23, 15: This has been a blessing to my family staying here. I have told the other vets about this place they had no idea and now are very happy that their family can come and see them.

Managements Goal for the St. Louis Fisher House is to take care of our guests by meeting their basic needs. Maintaining the house, stocking the pantry etc.  Each guest will be treated with warmth, respect and dignity while staying at the STL FH. We aim to provide each guest with a little home away from home experience. Yet...

It is the families who truly transform this house into a home.

You see it is the guests who come together in the evening to prepare dinner and eat, often together, talking about their day.  It is reinforced in the goodbye hugs and exchange of phone numbers as people leave the FH.

This is the true magic of the Fisher House: people check in as strangers and leave as family.

"My time here has been great." Everyone has been so supportive and helpful. I always look forward to coming here. "The staff was adorable, sweet and helpful."

This place was better than a fine hotel! I loved being here. Truly felt at home and loved.
